A south Nashville family of seven escaped their burning home Tuesday morning when a teen awoke just before 5 a.m. to a find a fire in their two-bedroom apartment.
The teen, who suffered minor burns to his legs, woke his mother and ushered his family out of the unit at Regency Villa Apartments on Glenrose Avenue.
A neighbor who helped them out of the unit also was treated for smoke inhalation. Fire crews said neither of the injuries were serious.
Fire officials said the family's unit was destroyed but no other units suffered major damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
