The Nashville Sounds and WGFX-FM 104.5 The Zone have reached a two-year agreement for the station to become the new flagship of the Triple-A baseball club beginning this season.
In addition to the deal, the Sounds also announced that Stu Paul will be the team’s new play-by-play voice. Paul has spent the past eight seasons with the Double-A San Antonio Missions.
“We are very excited to bring Stu’s quality of work and level of baseball experience to Music City and to partner with the top sports station in the market,” said Brad Tammen, the Sounds’ Vice President of Sales & Marketing in a statement. “This is the perfect fit for us to expand our listenership throughout Middle Tennessee.”
This season, The Zone will broadcast 72 home games and five away games (April 14 at Iowa, May 27 at Sacramento, June 13 at Omaha, June 25 at Memphis, Aug.11 at Las Vegas) on the air with the remainder of the road games available on the team’s website at www.nashvillesounds.com [1].
“I am excited about our new partnership with the Nashville Sounds as their flagship station. With more than 70 games being broadcast on 104-5 the Zone this season, I hope we are able to bring more awareness to the Sounds across Middle Tennessee,” said Hunter Rice, the station’s general manager. “We entered into this agreement with the belief that the Sounds have an exciting future behind the leadership of their new owners and management team.”
The Sounds remain the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Sounds’ home opener is April 16 vs. Iowa at Greer Stadium.
