It didn’t take long for Earnest Byner to land on his feet.
The running backs coach, inexplicably fired by the Tennessee Titans last week, has landed with the Titans’ AFC rival, the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to the Florida Times-Union's website [1]. In effect, Byner replaces the same man who filled his old job in Nashville.
The opening in Jacksonville came about because the Titans hired Kennedy Pola away from the Jaguars to replace Byner.
Byner spent two seasons in Tennessee and was a mentor to Chris Johnson, who rushed for 2,006 yards this past season, becoming only the sixth player in NFL history to reach the 2,000-yard plateau.
