Force fed

Had to watch — forced myself actually — Sarah Palin address the faithful at Saturday night's "Tea Party Convention." Was pleased when all the national media panned down the steets on Broadway [and] the bars didn't have their "Guns Welcomed Here" signs out.

Palin is a charismatic, effective public speaker, to be sure. She looks a lot better than Hillary in high heels. But, her content is an attempted throwback to "yesterday, and years gone by." Bigger military, an arrogant diplomatic posture, and pray for "Divine Intervention" when the chips are down.

She effectively, to the 600 attendees, [drew] rousing appreciation — everyone on their feet, with hand pumps and high fives.

A one-on-one question and answer session at the conclusion floated the idea of "President Palin." The interviewer said those two words "scare people." You bet they do. All of her ideas and rhetoric give people hope for something different that we bought into last election and like a little child, have become bored with our new toy.

It's always "something different; a change" that we vote into office. It was G.W. Bush as a change from the Clinton years. Then it was Barack Obama as a change from the Bush years. In 2012, it could very well be Palin as a change from the Obama years.

America has a short attention span.
