Montgomery Bell Academy is holding a ceremonial signing day Thursday morning for nine of its student-athletes who are headed to college to continue with their sports.
Starting at 9:45, several athletes will confirm their intentions to attend, and compete at, various universities.
In football, leading rusher Fitz Lassing is headed to Vanderbilt, and teammates Brad Bars will go with Penn State while Mr. Football kicker finalist Andrew Fletcher is headed to Louisville. It is believed that Bars is the first Big Red player ever to sign with the Nittany Lions of the Big 10.
In tennis, Roger Briggs will sign with Vanderbilt, and ace Naveen Chadalavada will sign with Washington U.
George Curtis will sign with Middlebury for lacrosse, and Seth Akers-Campbell (Brown), Pat Killian (Yale) and Jack Murfee (Virginia) will sign for swimming.
