DNA evidence has allegedly linked a convicted felon already behind bars to a brutal home invasion robbery and rape that happened in July 2009, Metro police said.
Police say Jerome Cardell Holt, 20, and another man forced their way into the victim’s Madison home after asking to use the telephone.
The 21-year old female victim and her 29-year-old boyfriend were forced to the floor and robbed, police said. The woman was then ordered to another room where she was raped.
Evidence from the crime scene submitted to the TBI Crime Laboratory matched Holt’s DNA profile that was already in the system. His DNA was on file due to convictions in previous felony cases.
The incident occurred just nine months after Holt received a four-year sentence in October 2008 on felony robbery and auto burglary charges. He is jailed on one count of aggravated rape, two counts of aggravated robbery and two felony probation violation charges, police said.
Holt allegedly confessed to the robbery and rape during questioning by a Sex Crimes detective.
Police said they expect to make at least one more arrest.
