Franklin police charged three teenage girls after one of them allegedly flashed what looked like a pistol at another motorist early Monday morning.
When officers pulled the suspect vehicle over on State Route 840 west, police said they discovered the suspects were all minors and the gun was actually an Airsoft pistol — a recreational but highly detailed pellet gun.
The 17-year-old driver was charged with felony aggravated assault, and a 16-year-old passenger was charged with violating curfew as well as tampering with evidence, also a felony, after she hid the gun in her backpack. Both girls, along with a third 14-year-old passenger, were charged with violation of curfew.
Just after midnight Monday, an 18-year-old female, traveling on Carothers Parkway between Liberty Pike and Murfreesboro Road, called police and reported another driver had flashed a gun at her. The victim remained on the phone with police and provided information on the suspect car until police could make the traffic stop.
