Restricted free agent defensive end Dave Ball has signed his tender from the Tennessee Titans, his agent Bruce Tollner confirmed.
Ball received a second-round level tender from the Titans and will earn $1.809 million this season.
Ball was signed by the Titans in 2008 after being out of the NFL the previous year, and has become a valuable part of Tennessee’s defensive line rotation. He had 4.5 sacks for the Titans in 2008 and also had an interception return for a touchdown against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving that year.
With the departure of Kyle Vanden Bosch to the Lions as a free agent, Ball’s role could increase this season as he is currently penciled in as the starter at right defensive end in a platoon with Jacob Ford.
Ball was originally a fourth-round pick of the San Diego Chargers in 2004 and also played two seasons with the New York Jets.
