The second annual Music City All-Star Classic (girls and boys games) will be held at McGavock High on Saturday afternoon, with the area’s top players competing.
The event starts at 5 p.m. with a 3-point shootout, followed by a dunk contest. The girls game starts at about 6 p.m., followed by the boys game.
Some of the East boys stars include: Robert Wade and Fred Lee of Maplewood, Darryl Jackson of McGavock, Robbin Perry and Antwan Van Lier of Hunters Lane, Justin Claybrooks of Hume-Fogg and Vincent Ross of Whites Creek.
The team is coached by Ty Wilson of Maplewood and staff.
Some of the West boys stars include: Desmond Johnson of Overton) David Sanders of (MLK), Chris Greer of Antioch, DeMarco Starling and Joseph Wilbert of Hunters Lane, Hollis Edwards, Christian Little of McGavock and Arthur McMillan of Hillsboro.
The team is coached by James McKee of Overton and staff.
Some of the girls stars include: Shateka Battle and Mikquesha Smith (Pearl-Cohn), Anna Mitchell and Hannah Thurley (CPA), Akia Jones (Glencliff), Tenesha Stinson (McGavock) and Pam Honeysucker (Overton).
The event is sponsored by the Charles Davis Foundation.
Highland Games at FRA
The 12th annual Highland Games and Track Relays will be held Friday and Saturday at Franklin Road Academy, the first major area track and field games of the spring in the Nashville area.
On Friday, the high school discus throw, pole vault and middle school long jump and high jump open the event at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday, the high school and middle school events begin at 9 a.m.
The event’s traditional Scottish competitions include the caber toss, the 8-men and 6-women tug-o-wars, stone toss and kilted mile run. Track events and relays will also be run. At 12, the Nashville Pipe and Drum Corps will bring an official start to the games.
Gate proceeds go to the Bill Etheridge Memorial Fund, dedicated to the support of Middle Tennessee athletes in memory of the late coach who passed away in 2008.
