Metro police arrested a Nashville cab driver Tuesday on charges that he raped a Clarksville woman in the back of his minivan cab.
Abdiwahab Mohamed Kheir, 26, was arrested late Tuesday afternoon after police said the victim identified him out of almost 200 photos of drivers at Yellow Cab Metro Inc. where he worked. She also accurately described his minivan as missing the middle seat.
A representative from Yellow Cab was unavailable for comment as of this writing.
According to the arrest warrant, the victim visited Nashville with four friends from Fort Campbell to go to a nightclub. She became separated from her friends, and around 3 a.m. on Feb. 28, she hailed Kheir’s cab near 174 Third Ave., S.
Police said Kheir agreed to drive the woman back to Fort Campbell but instead allegedly drove her behind the Yellow Cab building at 930 Third Ave., N. He then grabbed the woman by the arm and pulled her to the back seat where he allegedly raped her, according to police.
After the attack, police said Kheir dropped the woman off at the Greyhound Bus Line station.
Kheir is set to be arraigned by General Sessions Judge Gloria Dumas on April 5.
