A sentencing hearing for a man convicted of raping a 10-year-old girl was delayed until May 7, pending the completion of a psychosexual assessment.
On March 3, a jury convicted Mauricio Alberto Morales [1] on three counts of rape of a child, one count of aggravated sexual battery and one count of aggravated burglary.
The girl took the stand in that trial and identified Morales as the man who woke her up one April night in 2009 and sexually assaulted her more than once. Police said Morales broke into the condo near Old Hickory Boulevard and Nolensville Pike, where the girl and her mother lived.
In other cases, Morales faces four counts of aggravated rape and one count of aggravated burglary in a second incident as well as aggravated burglary, aggravated rape and child abuse in a third.
His next trial date is set for July 19.
