Metro Police have arrested a second man they say is connected to a 2009 gang rape and robbery.
Police arrested Deshaun Brown, 16, of South Eighth Street on March 23 on charges of aggravated rape and aggravated robbery stemming from the July 8, 2009, home invasion of an apartment on Heritage Drive in Madison.
In February, police arrested 20-year-old Jerome Holt in connection with the crime [1].
Police said Brown and Holt forced their way into the apartment of a 29-year-old man after knocking on his door and asking to use the phone. When the man opened the door, he faced a large revolver.
Once inside, the two suspects forced the man and his 21-year-old girlfriend to lie face-down while they disconnected the phone and computer. The suspects then allegedly stole about $50 from the victims before they took the woman into a back bedroom and raped her.
Police said they recovered two used condoms, along with other items, from the scene. DNA from one of the condoms matched Holt’s, which was on file from 2008 felony robbery and auto burglary cases.
Police said Holt admitted entering the apartment with his face covered and robbing the victims of $47.
In March, a Davidson County grand jury indicted Brown and Holt on 25 counts each, including especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated rape, felony weapons charges, and aiding and abetting aggravated rape.
Police expect to drop charges against a third person initially indicted in March; however, they say a third arrest is still possible.
