A Davidson County woman was arrested Monday in Montgomery County on charges of TennCare fraud.
After a joint investigation by the state’s Office of the Inspector General and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, officials arrested Tanya Badger, 38, accusing her of using TennCare to gain a prescription for Oxycodone, some of which she allegedly planned to sell.
District Attorney General John W. Carney’s Clarksville office is prosecuting the case, and Badger could face a two-year sentence if convicted, according to a release on the state’s website.
Badger’s arraignment is set for 9 a.m. on May 3 in Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Michael R. Jones’ courtroom.
“We are working with municipal and county police officers across the state, as they know where the prescription drug problems are in their counties, and we get involved when TennCare is part of the crime," Inspector General Deborah Y. Faulkner said in a statement. “Local police are clearly committed to eliminating prescription drug abuse, and we are doing our part to stop abusers who are attempting to support this kind of lifestyle with TennCare."
