Metro police say damage found at the scene of a fatal crash Thursday morning on Interstate 40 westbound near Demonbreun Street indicates another vehicle may have been involved.
Linda Sharpe, 57, of Country Drive in south Nashville, died at the scene after her 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo suddenly swerved to the left, went off the roadway and struck a guardrail at 4:20 a.m.
Sharpe was not wearing her seat belt and was thrown into the back seat of the car, police said. She died at the scene.
The police department’s fatal crash team believes a second vehicle likely made contact with the Monte Carlo because of certain damage found on the car.
Anyone traveling on I-40 early Thursday who may have witnessed the crash is urged to contact the traffic unit at 862-7738 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
