A man accused of shooting an 11-year-old innocent bystander turned himself in to police early Wednesday morning.
Ronald Armstrong II is charged with aggravated assault after police said he shot at his ex-girlfriend, 19-year-old Ashley Taylor, and her current boyfriend while driving past 629 Baldwin Court Saturday afternoon.
But the bullets missed the intended targets, striking an 11-year-old girl in both of her legs. The young girl was treated and released from Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
According to police, Armstrong was convicted of domestic assault in January after he pointed a gun at Taylor and threatened to kill her.
In another incident park police witnessed Armstrong pointing a gun at a group of after a confrontation. He was out on probation from that conviction at the time of Saturday’s shooting.
Armstrong is in jail on $106,000 bond. He is set to appear in court June 1.
