Stephen Michael West is set to die in November, according to Thursday’s order by the Tennessee Supreme Court.
The court ruled stated that West’s appeal process is exhausted and therefore he is set to be executed at 10 p.m. on Nov. 9, 2010.
Despite West’s arguments that his sentence is unfair, that evidence supporting his case hasn’t been properly evaluated in court, that he is severely mentally ill, and that there was prosecutorial misconduct in his case, the court ruled West had presented no legal ground to deny the state’s motion to set an execution date.
In 1987, a jury convicted West of two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, one count of aggravated rape and one count of larceny in the deaths of Wanda Romines and her 15-year-old daughter, Sheila, in Union County.
