Metro schools’ new debate program kicked off Monday morning, with students from eight schools attending a weeklong workshop at Tennessee State University to fine-tune their debating skills.
School officials say the Nashville Debate program, based on the “urban debate league model,” is designed to provide framework and support for policy debate in Metro Nashville Public Schools.
Participating schools are Antioch, Hillwood, Hume-Fogg, East Literature, Maplewood, and Stratford high schools, as well as LEAD Academy and Nashville School of the Arts.
The workshop, held at TSU’s Performing Arts Center, runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
