Lane Kiffin said he was surprised by the lawsuit filed by the Tennessee Titans against him and the University of Southern California, and Kennedy Pola, whose decision to leave the Titans’ coaching staff for a position at USC, said Jeff Fisher wished him well once he made his decision.
The reaction of the two key figures in the legal action initiated Monday by the Titans was detailed Tuesday by The Orange County Register.
Kiffin, the former University of Tennessee coach, said his hiring of Pola as the Trojans’ offensive coordinator “was done no differently than any we did at SC or Tennessee.
“I didn't anticipate this. No one would have.”
Pola was hired by the Titans in January to be their running backs coach, He announced Saturday he accepted the position on Kiffin’s staff.
Pola, according to the report, told a Los Angeles radio show that Fisher “was excited for me about the opportunity to come back and help USC.”
