Authorities were called to the 1400 block of Franklin Avenue at 9:15 a.m. Thursday after someone called to report a man “acting strangely” in the area.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, the Richard Voss, 45, allegedly pointed a rifle at the firefighter and barricaded himself inside the house at 1412 Franklin Ave, off Eastland Avenue.
After nearly two hours, the man, who may have been acting strangely due to a diabetic issue, was taken into custody at 11 a.m.
“Subject is in custody, crisis over,” read an email from East Precinct Cmdr. Robert Nash.
Voss was charged with aggravated assault for allegedly pointing a rifle at the firefighter.
