The 46,000 men and women who work in downtown Nashville may not get as much done Thursday as they do on a typical day. That’s because the Nashville Downtown Partnership is offering dozens of reasons to stop working and start celebrating.
In a 2009 downtown employee survey, 93 percent responded that downtown is a fun place to work. Downtown Employee Appreciation Day will give workers another reason to enjoy where they work.
The celebration will kick off Thursday, Sept. 30 at the corner of Fifth and Church with a welcome from Mayor Karl Dean and Tom Turner, president and CEO of the Nashville Downtown Partnership. The workers who arrive earliest will receive a free breakfast from Puckett’s Restaurant (Next month they’re opening a downtown location.)
Nashville’s Largest Coffee Break will feature a free cup of coffee for employees at any one of eight participating coffee shops. Freshii, which will soon open its first Southeastern location on Church Street, will offer free lunch with beverages by Real Water and Lotus. Finish it all off with free ice cream from Purity Dairies.
More surprises are scheduled throughout the day, with over 20 downtown retailers and businesses offering discounts and giveaways, including tickets to Disney on Ice and Nashville Predators opening night, and autographed Predators items.
The day will conclude with the 6:30 pm Live on the Green free concert at Metro Public Square.
