A man who was shot in the stomach during a Sept. 2009 drug deal has died of complications from his wound.
Police have classified 61-year-old Donald Taylor’s death as a homicide, while Keith Collier, 45, the man suspected of pulling the trigger, remains in jail following his indictment in December on charges of especially aggravated robbery, felon in possession of a weapon and selling drugs.
Collier allegedly shot Taylor, of Smithville, around the 100 block of Lafayette Street on Sept. 1, 2009. Taylor drove himself to an Eighth Avenue convenience store to call for help.
Collier is set to appear in court on Nov. 15. Police said they’ve notified prosecutors of Taylor’s death.
