A citizen’s attention to detail coupled with what Metro police called “fast police work” by Central Precinct officers early Thursday morning led to the recovery of the getaway van used in the burglaries of two Germantown businesses, Zackie’s Original Hot Dog and The Cocoa Tree, both located on Fifth Avenue North.
As Metro police officers were responding to a 1:30 a.m. alarm at the hotdog business, dispatchers relayed that a witness had seen the burglar flee from the building and get into a red van. The witness provided an excellent description of the vehicle, which enabled officers to ultimately locate it on Dew Street in East Nashville. The vehicle was impounded and is being processed for evidence.
Police said Central Precinct detectives Thursday conducted interviews that produced strong leads in their efforts to identify the burglar. The investigation is on-going.
