A 16-year-old Donelson Christian Academy sophomore faces a criminal charge for having a shotgun on school property Monday.
Metro police officers from the Hermitage Precinct arrested the student after finding a 12-gauge shotgun under the backseat and five shells of ammunition in the center console of his truck, which was parked on campus.
Officers were at the school investigating a vandalism case when they were told the 16-year-old might have a gun in his truck.
The student told police he had the shotgun for hunting. He was later booked at Davidson County Juvenile Court on a charge of unlawful weapon possession on school property.
