The Tennessee Titans have no plans to kick their punter to the curb any time soon.
Brett Kern has signed a multi-year extension after one full season with the team, the Titans announced Friday. Fox Sports, which first reported the deal on Thursday, said it is for four years and $5.2 million, with $2.1 million guaranteed.
Kern played 10 games for the Titans in 2009 after being claimed off waivers from Denver, where he earned numerous all-rookie honors in 2008. He finished fifth in the AFC last season with a 39.1-yard net average.
Kern succeeded Craig Hentrich, who was the Titans punter from 1998 until he sustained a career-ending injury early in 2009.
