After an initial election produced inconclusive results and litigation, citizens of Lakewood on Tuesday will decide again whether they will retract the satellite city’s charter and dissolve into Metro.
Voting on the Lakewood referendum is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lakewood City Hall.
According to the Davidson County Election Commission Chief Deputy Joan Nixon, 130 Lakewood citizens took part in early voting.
In August, Lakewood voted 400-399 to revoke the city’s charter. Results were called into question after several voting irregularities surfaced, prompting the City of Lakewood to file suit. Eventually, the election commission scheduled a new election.
Check back with The City Paper Tuesday night for final election results.
