North Precinct officers Tuesday morning recovered the car of murder victim Jose Moya near railroad tracks at the end of Edenwold Road near Rivergate.
The person(s) who abandoned the 2000 silver Toyota Camry attempted to destroy the car by setting it on fire, according to Metro Nashville Police Department officials. The vehicle has been impounded and is now being processed for evidence.
Officers found Moya, 23, critically wounded at 8:10 p.m. Monday after being dispatched to a shooting call in the 200 block of Lovell Street in Madison. Moya told officers that he was shot during a carjacking involving two suspects. He was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and died during surgery.
Police said they have not determined why Moya, who lived on Somoa Drive in Hermitage, was on Lovell Street.
