When I worked for a company making deliveries many years ago in North Nashville, I discovered that it was a jewel waiting to be discovered. Sure, parts were run-down and looking for someone to care, but there were other parts that shined — neighborhoods where you could see that the people lived with pride in their community.
I believe the rediscovery of North Nashville is due to the revitalization of Historic Germantown. From there came the Bicentennial Mall, Farmers Market and Hope Gardens. Now there is a march along Jefferson Street and I think a new glory day for North Nashville is only a matter of time.
Maybe there will come a day that Nashville will not be divided by color or culture.
