A man questioned and released by Metro police following last week’s shooting near Pearl-Cohn High School surrendered himself Wednesday night at the Metro Criminal Justice Center and faces a conspiracy to commit homicide charge.
Police had issued an arrest warrant Tuesday night for Marquise Northcutt, 20, in connection to the April 12 shooting on Eden Street near 26thAvenue North that injured a 17-year-old innocent bystander.
Northcutt is being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
Youth Services detectives also upgraded charges against Northcutt’s brother, Deondrae Northcutt, 18, and their half-brother, Teddarrius Perry, 19, to conspiracy to commit criminal homicide.
Immediately after the shooting, police arrested Deondrae Northcutt on felony reckless endangerment and aggravated assault charges. At that time, Perry was also arrested and charged with aggravated assault, while Marquise Northcutt along with two other unnamed individuals was questioned and released without charges.
Since then, Youth Services has decided the three brothers showed up outside of the school just after the final bell with the intention of killing 18-year-old Radarious Clay, whom the brothers considered a rival gang member, according to police.
Perry and Deondrae Northcutt carried handguns, and all three brothers allegedly physically assaulted Clay until another student intervened. As that student boarded a nearby school bus, Deondrae Northcutt and Perry shot in his direction hitting the innocent bystander in the arm. She was later treated and released from Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Deondrae Northcutt also faces three counts of felony reckless endangerment and is being held in lieu of $500,000 bond. Perry is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.
