Police aren’t sure why a man in East Nashville Friday morning approached and stabbed a 60-year-old grandmother as she walked along Fatherland Street, pushing her granddaughter in a stroller.
Detectives are looking for a man described as being in his 20s, and wearing black jeans and a grey sweatshirt with a red logo when he approached the victim at 10 a.m. Friday.
The suspect walked up to the woman and stabbed her once in the neck with a steak knife for no apparent reason before running away, police said.
The woman was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and was listed in stable condition. Her grandchild was not injured.
Police continue to investigate the stabbing and ask anyone with information to contact East Precinct detectives at 862-7525 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
