Nashville will host the National Folk Festival during the Labor Day weekend on the Bicentennial Mall. Reportedly, festival officials remain well shy of their fundraising goal but, nonetheless, have strong backing in honorary co-chairs: country and Americana music legend Emmylou Harris and Gov. Bill Haslam and his wife, Crissy. Supporters include the State of Tennessee, Metro, the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Arts & Business Council, Bridgestone, SunTrust, Cracker Barrel, Nissan and Nashville Electric Service. To be held in Nashville for the next three years, the event is expected to draw about 60,000 visitors this September. How significant an economic impact will the National Folk Festival have on Nashville?
