Metro Water Services officials said Tuesday Mill Creek is being tested to identify any potential danger to the public following a sewer spill.
MWS is notifying residents of the sewer spill in the creek's area near Old Hickory Boulevard.
The spill occurred sometime Sunday evening and was due to a broken pipe used to pump sewage near a construction work area. The pipe was repaired Monday morning.
As a precautionary measure, area residents are being warned by phone to avoid contact with Mill Creek. The spill is not a threat to the pubic water supply.
