The state’s Judicial Nominating Commission recommended three candidates to Gov. Bill Haslam for the 20th Judicial District vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Barbara Hayes.
Attorney Stanley Kweller, Juvenile Court Judge Scott Rosenburg and attorney Philip Robinson were selected from a pool of 10 candidates by the 17-member commission on Monday.
The commission held a public hearing and conducted an interview with each candidate. Candidates also had “speakers” endorse their qualifications before the commission.
It’s now up to the governor to appoint one of the candidates, but the judgeship goes up for re-election in August.
