Metro police have fired one of their sergeants following the allegation that he stole an iPod from a Robertson County pawnshop on Oct. 21.
The department fired the 14-year veteran, Sgt. Don Long, Tuesday evening after holding a disciplinary hearing regarding the theft, which allegedly occurred while he was off duty.
Long, 36, was promoted to sergeant in October 2010 and was assigned to the East Precinct’s midnight shift.
Pawnshop staff reported the shoplifting matter to the Metro police department on Oct. 27. Long was decommissioned the same day.
