Katherine Louise Holmes surrendered to police Monday morning after a grand jury indictment charged her with attempted first-degree murder for a failed assassination of her estranged husband last August.
Katherine Holmes, 27, of Seminary Road in Smyrna, is in jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.
The incident in question happened Aug. 24, when Joel Andrew Holmes, 28, survived a gunshot wound to the head.
The next day police arrested Barry Dean Haislip, 25, who they said admitted to shooting Joel Holmes. Joel Holmes arrived in the parking lot of Summit Apartments on Mountain High Drive just after 7 p.m. to meet his estranged wife and exchange the couple’s two children.
According to police, a short time later Haislip approached Joel Holmes and shot him in the head.
Police believe Haislip and Katherine Holmes, who was also in the parking lot with the children at the time of the shooting, conspired to kill Joel Holmes.
