Vanderbilt will host Villanova on Dec. 1 at Memorial Gymnasium as part of the SEC/Big East Challenge.
The teams have met just once before, with Villanova grabbing an 80-73 victory in the semifinals of the National Invitation Tournament in 1994 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The Wildcats went 13-19 during the 2011-12 season and the Commodores are rebuilding after losing all five starters and their top reserve.
Game time and television network will be announced by ESPN at a later date. All games in the challenge will be televised on the ESPN family of networks.
In last year’s SEC/Big East Challenge, the Commodores lost in overtime at Louisville. This year marks the second season of the expanded format, which includes every SEC team except newcomers Missouri and Texas A&M and 12 of the 16 Big East teams. Tennessee will travel to Georgetown on Nov. 30.
