If the Detroit Red Wings spend much time this offseason stewing over the fact that the Nashville Predators eliminated them in the first round of the 2012 NHL playoffs, they won’t have to wait long to try to do something about it.
The Predators will open the 2012-13 season Oct. 12 at Detroit. Their home-opener is the following night against St. Louis, which kicks off a stretch of four straight home games in eight days.
The National Hockey League released its entire 2012-13 schedule Thursday morning.
For Nashville, holidays — or immediately thereafter — are a time to travel. The Predators will play road games the day after Thanksgiving (Nov. 23 at Columbus), the day after Christmas (Dec. 26 at Chicago) and the day after New Year’s Day (Jan. 2 at Phoenix).
The most significant road trip of the season begins Oct. 22 at Anaheim and includes seven games over 16 days. The final game of that stretch is Nov. 6 at Winnipeg.
