Former pastor John T. Vine was sentenced to 22 years in prison today after being convicted in May of sexually assaulting a young girl in his church.
A jury found Vine guilty of two counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of solicitation of a minor.
The assault of the female victim began when she was 12 and continued until she was 13, according to a press release from the Office of the Davidson County District Attorney.
During testimony, a staffer at another church where Vine had been working reported there were additional allegations of sexual abuse.
Vine, the former pastor at Faith United Church, was sentenced to 11 years for each count of sexual battery, which he will serve at 100 percent. Another five-year sentence for solicitation of a minor will run concurrent to the 22-year sentence.
