Southwest Airlines has announced another expansion of its service out of Nashville International Airport, this time adding two daily nonstop flights to Newark Liberty International Airport.
The new flights are set to begin March 9, 2013.
The new flights mark the third time Southwest has announced expanded service from Nashville in the past three months with recent announcements of a daily flight to Boston, which began Aug. 12, and two new daily nonstop flights to New York LaGuardia, set to start in January.
Rob Wigington, Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority president and CEO, said, “Southwest recognizes the growth in business traffic between Nashville and New York City, and it is banking on the strength of our financial and health care industries to continue that growth. Over the past few months Southwest has effectively tied the major markets of New York City and Boston to Nashville, and that’s a big win for our community.”
Southwest has only 18 daily flights out of Newark Liberty International, and two of them will leave for Nashville, linking the two cities by large jet service for the first time since 2005. Visit www.flynashville.com [1] for more information.
