A former Nashville police officer arrested on Sunday now faces child pornography, domestic assault and drug charges.
William J. Patterson, 40, was originally arrested for domestic assault after he allegedly pushed his girlfriend during an argument. Police allege that the victim told them during the investigation that Patterson had a sexual interest in children and also dealt drugs.
An initial investigation of Patterson’s laptop allegedly revealed more than 100 pornographic images of children. According to a police department release, detectives also found drug paraphernalia containing traces of cocaine and marijuana as well as evidence suggesting Patterson grew marijuana.
Patterson worked as a police officer in Nashville from 1995 to 2006 and resigned after using the police computer system to run a background check for a family business.
Patterson’s bond was set at $93,000.
