Monday’s soggy weather in Nashville looks like it will stick around for a while, bringing a possibility of several inches of rain to the city by the time it tapers off Tuesday.
Around 1 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service in Nashville issued a flood watch for Middle Tennessee through Tuesday morning.
The weather service is predicting the low-pressure system moving across the area will strengthen and drop between two to five inches, with higher localized totals possible. The higher rainfall totals are expected in southern Middle Tennessee and east of Interstate 65.
According to the NWS, there is a sustained high chance of rain showers from Monday through Tuesday afternoon before drying up Tuesday evening.
Also, flash flooding is possible south of I-40 Monday afternoon and evening with a potential for stronger scattered storms to develop.
