Timothy Bozza convicted on first-degree murder in killing of estranged wife

A Davidson County jury has convicted Timothy Bozza in the August 2010 killing of his 39-year-old estranged wife Veronica Bozza.

Following a three-day trial, the jury deliberated for just over an hour before returning the guilty verdict around 5:30 p.m. Thursday, convicting Timothy Bozza as charged on first-degree premeditated murder. That conviction carries a life sentence of at least 51 years in prison.

Testimony during the trial stated that Coy Cotham — Timothy Bozza’s friend and accomplice — shot Veronica Bozza multiple times, killing her inside her Hermitage home on Aug. 29, 2010 [1], not long after she had dropped her son off for visitation with Timothy Bozza.

Proof during the trial showed that Timothy Bozza agreed to pay Cotham $10,000 for him to kill his wife. The two had apparently planned for Cotham to kill Veronica Bozza and Timothy Bozza would later kill the ex-husband of one of Cotham’s girlfriends.

Cotham was convicted in February [2] of first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery, and received a life sentence plus 25 years in prison.

In a statement released through the Davidson County District Attorney’s Office, friends and family of Veronica Bozza reacted to the verdict saying, “Veronica is dearly missed by so many people. Her eternal love for her son was beyond compare. That love was also extended to her family and dear friends in and around the Nashville community. While there are no winners in a horrific and senseless crime such as this, we the family of our beloved Veronica are pleased that the two men responsible for her murder have officially been brought to justice. Now we can all begin to move forward and be a reflection of the love and light that she extended to us during her beautiful life.”
