Yellow Cab Metro Inc. last week dismissed its lawsuit filed earlier this year in which it alleged rival cab companies poached online search engine traffic meant to be directed to it.
In January, Yellow Cab filed suit in Davidson County Chancery Court  claiming Metro Livery Inc. and Taxi USA of Tennessee knowingly attached their business information and telephone number to Google searches for “yellow cab Nashville.”
Yellow Cab claimed the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act should apply to search engine optimization and online searches and wanted its rivals to pay.
Chancellor Russell Perkins signed off last week on Yellow Cab’s voluntary dismissal  of the lawsuit that orders it to be "dismissed with prejudice and upon the merits of the case," meaning the lawsuit can't be brought back to court.
The attorney for Yellow Cab Metro Inc. was Richard Hedgepath. Rob Briley represented Metro Livery Inc. in the matter.
