A 33-year-old homeless woman was stabbed at the Bicentennial Mall Wednesday morning, and police are now searching for the suspect.
The woman told police that the suspect demanded sex from her at knifepoint, and after she refused, he allegedly stabbed her several times before running away. She was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she was treated and was expected to be released Wednesday.
Detectives say the suspect may frequent the Jefferson Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard area. He is described as a black man between 30 and 40, and is approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with a stocky build.
At the time of the attack, he wore dark pants and a white jacket with a logo on the front.
Police urge anyone with information on the suspect to call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
