In a stunning recruiting development, Brentwood Academy five-star ace Jalen Ramsey has de-committed from Southern Cal and decided instead to sign with Florida State.
Ramsey, an all-state split end and cornerback announced last fall that he would sign with Southern Cal. According to a Scout.com report, though, he had a recent change of heart and decided sign with the Seminoles on Wednesday, the first day of the next signing period.
“Ramsey called USC Monday night and de-committed and, in doing so, leaves USC with only one cornerback, Chris Hawkins from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. High,” the report said.
“With a day left before letters of intent are signed and faxed, (USC Coach) Lane Kiffin and his staff’s job just got much more difficult.”
• Make them wait: Ensworth’s Corn Elder, a two-time Mr. Football winner, won’t make a decision on his college choice by Wednesday.
He made his final pre-signing day recruiting trip to Georgia Tech over the weekend.
“Corn won’t be deciding [Wednesday],” Ensworth coach Ricky Bowers said. “He will make a decision soon, but I’m not exactly sure when.”
Another item in the equation is Elder’s desire to play both football and basketball. Purdue basketball coach Matt Painter extended a scholarship offer last week.
