Betty Fowlkes Boner, the ex-wife of former Mayor Bill Boner, has died, according to family friends. The cause of death is unknown at this time.
Her body was found in her home Wednesday morning. Friends said Boner, who divorced the former mayor in 1990, appears to have died her sleep.
Known for her grace under pressure, Boner was a graduate of Centre College in Danville, Ky., where she was a cheerleader, and the Nashville School of Law. The former first lady of Nashville was a longtime state employee working in the TennCare division of state government.
Boner is survived by son Eric Boner of Nashville, and sisters Shelley Snow of Franklin and Jody Folk of Nashville.
Memorial and funeral arrangements have not been announced at this time.
