The Tennessee Titans will use Facebook to read the minds of their fans.
The franchise announced Tuesday that fans would select which of four choices would serve as the logo to commemorate 15 years with the current nickname, color scheme and stadium. The logo will be displayed on merchandise throughout the season.
Voting is underway at the team’s Facebook page (Facebook.com/Titans) and will continue through April 22. The winning design will be revealed on April 25, the first day of the 2013 NFL Draft.
Descriptions of the four choices, seen above, are:
• Version 1 depicts the number 15 and a Titans “fireball” accompanied by the outline of the state of Tennessee.
• Version 2 features the Titans “sword” between the Roman numerals XV.
• Version 3 reveals the number 15 within a Greek-style temple, crowned by the fireball.
• Version 4 has a 15 in a classic, sans-serif font with the fireball fitted to the bottom half of the 5.
The Houston Oilers relocated to Middle Tennessee in 1997 and were known as the Tennessee Oilers for two seasons. They played home games at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis that year and at Vanderbilt Stadium in 1998.
They were re-branded the Tennessee Titans in 1999 and began play that fall at what is now known as LP Field. Since then they have gone 125-99 and made the only Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.
